Tennyson Reach Apartments (MIRVAC)

Brisbane 2015 Restoration of Roof Membrane Integrity Using AMI’s Ultra Flex and HydroStatic Epoxy system

The Tennyson Reach Apartment’s roof (5,000sm approx) was repaired/restored for Mirvac using a system from AMI which consisted of AMI’s HydroStatic Epoxy and Ultra Flex which was enhanced with polyurethane fibres. The seamless finish membrane has a long term warranty and enjoys a comprehensive ongoing maintenance programme.

The roof had previously been membrane coated using the Grace UVR system. Over the course of several years the top coat had oxidised. The UVR system had also been installed too thinly and overall there were no bond breakers in the application.

The preparation included water blasting the polyurethane (UVR) vacuuming the coatings with 40 grit sand paper, then a second water blast to properly clean and prepare the substrate.

The area was primed using AMI’s HydroStatic waterbased epoxy and the application consisted of 3 coats of Ultra Flex thereby leaving a dry coat thickness target of 1.5mm.

The application was undertaken in sections over 3 months.
